Pamela Holliday

Pamela Holliday served as public school principals and as Director of Exceptional
Children’s Programs before she retired in December of 2004. She then taught
writing part-time at Carteret Community College where she renewed her love of
clay by taking a course in pottery.  She has been throwing pots at Bridges Street
Pottery in Morehead City since 2005.  Pam had her first pottery show in October,
2005, as part of the four woman group called Back Creek Artists and has had
several group and solo shows in the county since.   She has been juried into
Carteret County Arts and Crafts Coalition and Carolina Artist Studio Gallery.
She earned an Honorable Mention for her pottery in the Morehead City 150th
celebration in 2007 and an Excellence in Art award from the Carteret Arts
Council at the 2008 Art for the Heart.   She shows her work at Handscapes
Gallery in Beaufort, Nicole’s Studio in Raleigh, Carolina Artists Studio and
Gallery in Morehead and in her home.

Pam has always enjoyed photography and sees it as a great excuse to explore the
wonders of nature and trace the marks of human invention.  Pam and her
camera have captured scenes from Alaska to the Bahamas, from Maine to New
Mexico and 17 states in between, but she finds that the communities, the
marshes and the boat yards of Carteret County provide most of her all time
favorite material.

In addition to pottery and photography, Ms. Holliday enjoys kayaking with the
Warrior Queens, reading for two book clubs, and singing in the Merrimon UMC
Choir.  She is an avid sailor and when not on the water she lives on the shores of
Adams Creek with her husband, Bob, who is the salt of the earth, and their black
lab, Abigail Braveheart, Warrior Queen.
