Trilogy - Flora Springs, Napa Valley, 2004

This trilogy didn’t seem to have the hallmarks of a hugely popular white wine, but it certainly managed to become just that in 2009. Produced in Napa Valley in 2004, it won all sorts of accolades for being a full bodied yet smooth effort that captured the hearts and minds of the US market.

Banfi Rosa Regale

This Banfi Regale is an original and daring sparkling red wine that works excellently as an after-dinner treat. It rolls off your tongue and is both smooth and flavorful, with hints of red fruits like raspberries or even cranberries. With such a fruitful nose, this is definitely a wine that’s best enjoyed in the summer months after a lighter meal.

Zinfandel - Sobon Estate, Amador, 2005

This 2005 Zinfandel won a lot of praise in 2009 and quickly became one of the most popular wines of that year. It’s definitely been difficult for Zinfandel’s to break through recently, especially given the press they’ve had; that being said, this one is trying its best to break the mould.

Petite Sirah - Silkwood, Stanislaus, 2004

It’s been a few tough years for any wine that falls under the category of Petite Syrah. The grape has been outperformed by many similar styles, perhaps not in taste, but definitely in terms of popularity. That being said, this wine (from Stanislaus County) is worth every penny, and will probably appreciate in value very quickly over the next few years.
